Chapter 159 [Half-Ghoul!]
"An odd job?" Victoria asked while that man behind the desk answered,
"A human living with a ghoul kind of. The others were too bored to deal with this so I was going to deal with it on my own, but I guess it won't be too bad for your first mission."
"What? No introductions? and a welcome party?" I complained a little. I kind of wanted to know about my 14-day colleagues with whom I was going to have fun in the next two weeks. You know, like building bonds and stuff?
"Andrea. Python. Grey. Gin. Lurker. Mark. And myself Colt. You can tell your name after you finish the mission," he spoke as he pointed at everyone present here before looking at the files present on his table. Seems like he was too burdened with the tasks and stuff.
"Victoria, guide him through this, will you?" He then added while Victoria smirked as she answered, Continue reading stories on My Virtual Library Empire
"10,000."
"Deal," he folded pretty easily before Victoria turned to Char and spoke," take the kid with you for now. I will return by dawn."
"It's an easy mission. Take the kid with you. Given she is here, she too must have some powers, and since this kid is A-Ranked and you are B-Ranked, it's already an overkill. If you are too worried you can take Char as well," the boss behind the shelf spoke again, and Char nodded before speaking,
"I will tag along as well. I have been drowning in paperwork for a week now. And the last mission was… not pleasant."
Victoria nodded before speaking," nothing more than a field training, I guess? Easy money."
And once again we began walking towards the lift, as I waved to a couple of people in the hall. Then moving into the lift, I saw Victoria smiling from ear to ear. As for Clair she was now playing with the kid that I brought along with me.
"Where are you from by the way? Since I picked you up from the highway, were you coming from the Wing City?" Victoria asked and I pondered before answering," well. Stuff happened and I was caught up in some form of kidnapping. Wasn't a pleasant experience. Last I could tell, I was just running away."
"Is that so? Can't say whether you are lucky or unlucky," she paused before continuing," though I guess, you are mostly lucky given how things worked out for you."
I nodded at her before we continued talking for a bit more. There were mundane topics about what things I could do in the city, and what else was there to do in my free time. She told me there were some movie spots and some good restaurants, and I asked her for a date, which flatly rejected. She said it was too much of a bother to have a relationship in this line of work where people are dying every other day.
We then took a limo to the place where the location was. It was a rundown church on the outskirts of the city where there were barely any people in the area. Those that were present were beggars missing a limb or two, barely able to walk on their own.
It was a dull place, with barely any signs of life present in the area.
Getting out of the limo, Victoria took the lead with her gun in her hand, and so did Charlotte, as her full name was. As for me, I rejected the guns as I simply walked with the girls while cracking my fists, and the little girl sitting on my shoulders.
-Thud!
Opening the church's door, I saw a couple praying to a statue on the other side. One of them, the woman, was a normal human, while the other one, the man, was pretty much a ghoul with his eyes deep red.
Then there was another one. Neither complete human nor complete ghoul. One of her eyes red, she stood there on one of the front benches. Because I was able to see through all things at once, it was pretty easy for me, but I guess others might mistake her for a human.
And by others I meant, Victoria, Char and the little girl.
That half ghoul girl then stood up and then slowly walked towards the central area before facing us.
"What?"
"How?"
Victoria and Char were alramed.
"I apologise," the half ghoul girl spoke.
-Whoosh!
Before appeareing right infront of me and
-BOOOM!
And then punching me as fast as she could.
"Don't be," I smiled at her as I held her punch with ease. And before she could even react to it.
-BOOOM!!!
I kicked her with equal force pushing her away as she hit the giant statue, before falling on the ground. Since I held back considerably, it didn't seem like she was hurt a lot. She simply stood up as she dusted herself before looking at the couples that were praying.
-Whoosh!
She then vanished and reappeared in front of me in an instant. This time her strength was twice as last time, while I just smiled before catching her fist ease.
"Wh-"
And I threw her towards the side again before I took a step towards the parents. One step at a time, I walked towards them until I was a dozen meters away.
-Thud!
And she appeared in front of me again. Her eyes glaring at me, as she protected the duo behind her. Clearly she was related to them. And I wondered, exactly how?
"I called the headquarters. The force should be coming anytime soon," Victoria spoke with a fear filled expression, while the half-ghoul panicked as she heard her words.
"You dare!" She spoke as she was about to lunge at them but a voice stopped her.
"Elliot. Don't. It's too late now… please run away. You cannot protect us anymore," the duo, the parents of that kid, spoke with an exhausted tone. They seemed tired, both of them. And looking at the current situation, they only wanted their kid to survive.
"But that being promised!!!" Elliot shouted but it was futile as their parents seemed to have lost all hope. They looked at Elliot as they spoke,
"Elliot we love you. Try to live a better life."
Before both of them took a knife and then plunged it in each other's chest.
"NOOOOO!!!!!" Elliot shouted almost jumping at them, but her hand stopped as she looked at the next scene. Her parents that should have been dead were still alive, their hands paused before they could end their life.
And I, who held each of their hands, smiled as I spoke," come on now. We can all solve this without anybody dying now, can't we?"
What do you think?
