Zhao Feng gazed out the window at the distant ambulance, muttering to himself, “No way… Did Brother Biao really die from the stench? If so, he’ll go down in history as the first warrior to perish in a pit. He’ll be immortalized in the annals of our school.”

The classroom buzzed with chatter as students discussed the incident of the three falling into the pit.

Brother Biao is truly my idol. He even dared to jump into a pit!”

“The three of them formed a team to jump into the pit. That’s next-level boldness!”

“A real man has to be tough. Brother Biao is the toughest guy in our school.”

“If Brother Biao trained in diving, he might shock the world with one jump.”

“Absolute legend!”

By noon, news spread that all three had been rescued and were out of danger. However, due to inhaling too much foul air, their brains were overstimulated, and they needed to stay in the hospital for half a month for observation and some “biological research,” essentially becoming lab rats.

Just one day after being discharged, they were back in the hospital, and it was expected they wouldn’t be released until graduation.

“Wishing you a speedy recovery. Brother Biao, you’re truly fearless and unstoppable!” Zhao Feng silently wished them well before returning to his seat to study with Red-crowned Crane, continuing his sprint toward the college entrance exams.

Two days later.

In Classroom 3-1, a large bulletin board on the back wall displayed the rankings of the top 100 students in the city-wide joint exam and the top 100 within their school.

Students crowded around the board, fanning out in a semicircle as they searched for their names. Many left dejected, as only a handful had made it into the city-wide top 100, and even then, their rankings were lower than they had hoped.

“The top student in our grade, Glasses Guy, only ranked ninth. And this is a provincial key high school!”

“The city is full of hidden talents. There are so many academic powerhouses out there. Glasses Guy just couldn’t keep up.”

Bai Xiaohua ranked 46th. She almost didn’t make the cut.”

Red-crowned Crane

ranked so high! She’s 13th in the city-wide exam. She’s truly a super学霸 (academic genius)!”

As the students murmured in awe, Huang Qiaoqiao walked over. The crowd automatically parted to make way for her.

Standing in front of the bulletin board, Huang Qiaoqiao towered over everyone, both literally and figuratively. She was the tallest among the girls, with the best figure and the highest grades. No one could overshadow her brilliance.

Ignoring her own ranking, Huang Qiaoqiao focused on Zhao Feng’s position, her expression turning strange.

“Am I seeing things? Zhao Feng is ranked 38th… on the city-wide top 100 list?” she muttered in disbelief.

Zhu Yiqun, standing nearby, sneered, “It’s probably someone with the same name. Zhao Feng is such a common name. There’s no way it’s Honest Zhao. Even if he went all out, he couldn’t have scored this well.”

Bai Jiaxin approached and scanned the rankings, her eyes widening in shock. “No way! Zhao Feng has gone crazy! He’s ninth in the school’s top 100 and 38th in the city-wide exam!”

Huang Qiaoqiao said seriously, “Little Fengfeng has so much potential. His improvement is astonishing. I’m genuinely surprised.”

Bai Jiaxin grumbled, “That jerk! I’m tenth in the school’s top 100, and he dares to outrank me!”

Zhu Yiqun, green with envy, said, “He must have cheated! I’m reporting him to the teacher.”

Bai Jiaxin retorted coolly, “In every exam, Zhao Feng was the first to finish, an hour early. How could he have cheated?”

Zhu Yiqun stubbornly insisted, “You two were in the same exam room. You must have let him copy your answers.”

Bai Jiaxin’s cheeks flushed with anger. “Don’t talk nonsense! His scores are better than mine. Who copied from whom?”

In that moment, Zhu Yiqun

had an epiphany, his envy turning into burning resentment. He stared at Huang Qiaoqiao with a mix of longing and bitterness. “Red-crowned Crane, did you give Zhao Feng private tutoring? Did you teach him everything you know?”

The entire class turned their fiery gazes toward Huang Qiaoqiao, as if they had discovered a rare treasure. Bai Jiaxin was completely ignored.

Red-crowned Crane, is the class monitor right?”

“Wuwuwu, I want to sit next to Red-crowned Crane! Don’t anyone dare take my spot!”

“Get out of the way! Red-crowned Crane is mine! I’m swapping seats with Zhao Feng!”

“I want to sit behind Red-crowned Crane!”

Huang Qiaoqiao found herself surrounded, instantly replacing Bai Jiaxin as the most dazzling学霸女神 (academic goddess) in the class.

“Stop crowding me! Zhao Feng earned his grades through hard work. I only helped him with science. I didn’t teach him anything else,” Huang Qiaoqiao said, squeezing through the crowd and fleeing back to her seat. She was equally puzzled. How had Zhao Feng’s grades improved so dramatically? From the bottom of the rankings to the top ten in the school and even making the city-wide list—it was unbelievable.

Bai Jiaxin was both amused and exasperated. She realized she had been completely overshadowed. The title of campus goddess was now Huang Qiaoqiao’s. She felt no jealousy, though. When it came to academic performance, Huang Qiaoqiao deserved the title. She had the skills to dominate.

Zhao Feng has been hiding his abilities. His grades have surpassed mine. This absolutely cannot stand!” Bai Jiaxin thought to herself, scanning the room for Zhao Feng. She noticed he had left the classroom after class and wasn’t around.

Ding ding ding!

The class bell rang, and Zhao Feng and Jin Fugui walked in side by side, returning to their seats.

Guo Damei entered the classroom, holding two copies of the exam rankings, which she slapped onto the lectern.

“Students, the results of the city-wide joint exam are out. Five students from our class made it into the city-wide top 100. Wei Bo is ranked ninth in the city and first in our school’s top 100.”

Huang Qiaoqiao is ranked 13th in the city and second in our school.”

Bai Jiaxin is ranked 46th in the city and tenth in our school.”

Zhu Yiqun is ranked 100th in the city and 20th in our school.”

“The biggest surprise of the class is… Zhao Feng, who is ranked 38th in the city and ninth in our school. Let’s invite Zhao Feng to come up and share the secret to his rapid improvement.”

Guo Damei beamed with pride, gesturing for Zhao Feng to step forward.

Zhao Feng was stunned, staring blankly at Guo Damei. Had he really performed that well, breaking into the top 50 in the city and the top 10 in the school? He must be hearing things.

Huang Qiaoqiao poked him and whispered, “Stop daydreaming. The teacher’s calling you up to speak.”

Snapping out of his daze, Zhao Feng stood up and walked to the front of the class, standing beside Guo Damei.

Guo Damei smiled. “Zhao Feng must be a bit overwhelmed by his incredible achievement. As your teacher, I’m thrilled for you. If you maintain this performance in the college entrance exam, getting into a top university won’t be a problem. Now, share your secret to success. Let’s give him a round of applause!”

Clap clap clap!

The students erupted in applause, eagerly leaning forward to hear Zhao Feng’s secret. As the most honest person in the class, he was sure to tell the truth, and they hoped his advice would help them improve their own grades.
