The Huntsman Of Death:A Gamer's POV As Side Character

Chapter 36 38:Messed Up Situation

"Lukas!" Saber woke up and looked at Lukas crouching down with a pale expression. Panic surged through him as he ran toward Lukas to see what had happened.

Saber's heart stopped the moment Lukas touched the dead specter and collapsed to the ground. Terror gripped him as he shouted and dashed forward, kneeling beside his fallen comrade.

What he saw froze him in place.

Lukas's veins bulged unnaturally across his body, dark and twisting beneath his skin like shadowy vines. They pulsed, expanding and contracting as if alive, each surge seeming to draw him deeper into agony. His hands clawed at the ground, fingers curling with such force they nearly broke under the strain.

"AHHHHH!"

Muffled screams and gasps erupted from Lukas as he writhed in pain, rolling on the ground.

Saber's gaze moved to Lukas's face, and a chill ran down his spine. Lukas's eyes had turned a deep, darkish hue with a purplish gleam glowing with terrifying intensity.

His jaw clenched tightly, but he couldn't hold back a strangled cry as his whole body convulsed. It was clear that Lukas was fighting with every ounce of strength to contain whatever pain was coursing through him, but even that struggle seemed futile.

"Lukas!" Saber called again, his voice trembling, but there was no response. Lukas was trapped somewhere beyond his reach, lost in a world of searing torment.

Saber reached out, his hands hovering helplessly over Lukas's shoulder, unsure if touching him would make things worse. The air around them seemed to darken, thick with the same energy that was consuming Lukas.

"Potion…The healing potion…"Saber rummaged through the body and pulled out a small vial. He then grabbed Lukas's cheek and forcefully opened it, emptying the contents.

"Swallow it.."

Lukas adam's apple bobbled as he chugged it down. The potion certainly had an effect as Lukas stopped rolling but it didn't seem to clear away the consequences.

The sight was both horrifying and maddeningly out of Saber's control. All he could do was stay by his side, praying Lukas would somehow find the strength to break free from the seizure.

Meanwhile, the fierce battle between the City Lord and the monstrous beast raged on. High-level ghosts were blasted into the sky and began spilling out of the darkness.

Few monsters escaping from the onslaught passed through the air like living nightmares.

Saber's eyes widened as he saw them approaching. He gripped his axe tighter and planted himself in front of Lukas, who was writhing on the ground in agony.

Lukas, his face twisted with pain, managed to grit his teeth and gasp out, "Run!"

"Run!"

At the same time, an unknown voice echoed across his mind asking him to run away.

But Saber's legs froze, trembling as he stood his ground. His mind raced back to a memory he'd tried to bury. Years ago, a monster had attacked his village. He'd been just a boy, and his father, a man who should have been their protector but in a moment of danger he had run away, abandoning him and his mother. In the chaos, his mother had pushed him to safety, sacrificing herself.

He'd fled like a coward back then, too young and afraid to do anything else. Now, that same feeling clawed at him, urging him to escape. But his blood boiled with anger, and he gripped his axe tighter, shouting into the night.

"No! I'm not running this time. I'm going to fight. I'll protect you, Lukas!"

As the first monster came at him, Saber swung his axe, which carried the residual power of blessings, with all his strength, cleaving through the monster.

Saber gripped the heavy axe tightly, feeling its faint warmth from the blessing's power. The monster charged at him, its claws swiping wildly. Saber stepped to the side just in time, his boots skidding slightly on the dirt.

He swung the axe with all his strength, the glowing blade slicing through the air. It struck the monster's side with a loud crack, making it roar in pain. The force of the hit shook Saber's arms, but he steadied himself, pulling the axe back for another strike.

The creature spun, its claws aimed at his chest. Saber ducked low, the attack missing him by inches. Using the momentum, he brought the axe up in a fierce upward swing. It smashed into the beast's chest, sending a pulse of light from the weapon as the blessing burned into its flesh.

The monster stumbled, but Saber didn't stop. He gritted his teeth and swung again and again, each hit driving it back. The axe felt heavy, but it moved swiftly as Saber let its weight guide his strikes.

With the creature barely standing, Saber raised the axe high over his head. He let out a shout and brought it down with all his might, the blade cutting clean through the beast.

"DIE!"

Blood and flesh splattered as Saber took down the first foe.

"That's one down.More to come,"he spoke as he looked up ahead.A garrison under City Lord was already under move that was dealing with a stronger one. He just needed to survive the weaker ones.

But more followed, and with each attack, he felt the sting of their icy claws. Soon, he was bleeding, stumbling, barely able to stay on his feet.

Just as he felt he couldn't hold on, a squad of demon soldiers appeared, pushing back the horde. Mages among them cast spells, sending bolts of dark magic through the air, tearing through the ghosts with crackling energy.

"What are you doing here instead of running away?" one of the soldiers shouted, looking sharply at Saber.

"My friend... He's injured," Saber replied, pleading for help.

"Mend him.."

But as the battle began to clear, a bright streak of light suddenly shot across the sky, exploding in a blast that made everyone freeze.

They turned in horror to see that the City Lord had fallen, defeated by the beast. Panic spread through the soldiers, and one of them shouted, "Everyone, run! We can't hold them back!"

A soldier grabbed Saber's arm. "Get the boy out of here. Carry him, quickly!"

Saber looked down at Lukas, wanting to ask the others for help. But as they glanced at Lukas, they backed away, terror in their eyes.

Black tendrils of darkness had started swirling around Lukas, twisting in the air. One of the soldiers gasped, "No… he's turning into a specter. The ghost must've possessed him."

"Then let's kill him!" another soldier yelled, raising his weapon. But Saber stepped between Lukas and the others, shaking his head fiercely.

"No, you can't kill him. He isn't possessed."

"Just leave him and run, you idiots!" one of the soldiers shouted. Without another word, they turned and fled, leaving Saber alone with Lukas.

Determined, Saber tried to lift Lukas, but the moment he touched him, an icy chill crawled over his skin. He gasped, shivering uncontrollably as his strength left him, making his legs buckle.

"GURRR!"

"What the fuck?" he screamed in terror and turned around.

As Saber fell to the ground, he saw a massive shadow swallowing the area around him. Trembling, he forced himself to look back, and his mind went blank as he saw a colossal pair of eyes staring at him as if saying.

"Do you know how fucked up you are right now?"
