Chapter 1298  The Secret of the Labyrinth IV

The sounds of explosions, human screams, and beast roars mixed as blood spilled and agonizing screams and cries enlivened the chaos.

The giant Beast struck everyone indiscriminately and erratically which gave Zhao Li Xin a chance to lure the Paladis toward the Beast's direction, forcing them to fight each other which made the Beast go on a rampage, as a result, all the Paladin's attention drawn to the Beast rather than Zhao Li Xin.

While the Paladins and Beasts were busy exchanging attacks from a distance, Zhao Li Xin carefully observed their strength and the way they moved. After keen observation, Zhao Li Xin realized the Paladin's power and the beast had similar power, not only did they both use the same plant elements but the power they emitted was almost alike though he could not be sure.

The sword engulfed in bright white light slashed the Beast's body thoroughly, causing the Beast to stagger and whimper in pain, at the same time the light on the sword became noticeably brighter.

Zhao Li Xin noticed that the sword seemed to become stronger with each slash at the Beast as if it was absorbing the Beast's power, but how could that be possible unless the powers of the two had some kind of similarity just like his immortal flame becoming stronger after consuming the fire  essence. @@novelbin@@

Finally, after a long battle, the Beast was slain by the Paladins and soon after the Beast's carcass turned into scattered red flower petals, sadly, although they won, it was a bitter victory as only three paladins remained out of dozens of them.

Zhao Li Xin didn't give time a chance to recover before he struck the two Paladin in one quick movement then leaving only one to live. The only paladin remaining was frozen, he had completely forgotten about Zhao Li xin existance thus they were too late to raise their guard but even if they did they were no match for Zhao Li Xin.

"You… who are you?" he immediately became apprehensive and reflexively pointed his sword towards Zhao Li Xin.

Zhao Li Xin stared at the petrified paladin with steady eyes like glass, "I was the one who killed your friends but he was the one who resurrected the beast that killed your team, so you cannot blame me for your...predicament"

The man swallowed his saliva heavily, when he received the emergency call, they thought they would face another group of hunters who had stumbled into this place as usual, but who would have thought they would face one giant monster that must not be awakened, the man could only cursing his colleague's stupidity.

"Tell me who you are!" he screams in a peremptory tone.

Zhao Li Xin chuckled, he flicked a pebble toward the man's hand and immediately his sword slipped from his grasp, the man screamed in pain and a second later Zhao Li Xin grabbed him by the neck and lifted the man into the air, "I'm not the one who should be answering your question, right..." he hissed coldly.

The man flapped his hands trying to let go of Zhao Li Xin but his strong grip made the man almost faint from losing air then suddenly Zhao Li Xin had difficulty breathing not to mention he felt his back hurt a lot as if it was burning.

The corner of Zhao Li Xin slightly lifts into a mirthless smile, "Good, now tell me is that thing really an ancient creature from another world, tell me why it became a statue and how did you awaken that thing?"

"How about you answer my question?" Zhao Li Xin's voice is like an ice that chilled his blood.

The man subconsciously nods his head.

The corner of Zhao Li Xin slightly lifts into a mirthless smile, "Good, now tell me is that thing really an ancient creature from another world, tell me why it became a statue and how did you awaken that thing?"

The man clenched his jaw as he tried to control his rage, he wondered how much more his dead teammate had revealed to this mysterious man. "Speak!" Zhao Li Xin opens his palm and a purplish flame engulfs his hands then slowly floats above his palm.

The man's eyes widened, and cold sweat trickled from his forehead, just like the previous Paladin He also thought Zhao Li Xin was a fire-gifted. The man assumed he and his team had been fooled by Zhao Li Xin to focus on fighting the Beast meanwhile he preserved his mana!

The man had no choice but to follow Zhao Li Xin's order, he swallowed down his contempt before he spoke "That thing was indeed the creature from another world that trespass this world..."

a thought flashed Zhao Li Xin's head "The previous paladin told me this place is a gate of the God, is that creature from that world?"

The man suppressed his curse but immediately fell silent when Zhao Li Xin's fire only flew a few inches from his face causing his eyebrows to burn.

"Yes - yes, it is from the realm of the God!!" he hastily said.

Zhao Li Xin snorts in mockery "What kind of God's creature can be easily killed"

"You don't understand, it was the power of the god that made us able to kill that thing!" the man spat his anger freely but then realized he had revealed more than he should.

Zhao Li Xin's eyes lit up with interest "Oh, so your power and that thing's power are coming from the same source...., how interesting"

The man bit his lips exasperatedly.

"Does that mean the woman you called the saintess got her power from the same source?" Is not hard for Zhao Li Xin to connect everything.

'It just another false God'

However, the man's anger explodes he screams at Zhao Li Xin "No, she's different from us, she is the chosen one! She was blessed with enormous power better than us, the power to give life that even the useless Princess Lorient wasn't blessed with that kind of power!"

Zhao Li Xin punched the man with a fiery palm until his whole body sank to the ground, and then he vomited blood into the air. The man let out soft droplets while blood dripped from his mouth.

"Be careful with your words…" Zhao Li Xin firmly warns him.

Zhao Li Xin stared at the man coughing blood with disdain, Zhao Li Xin clasped his hands behind his back, and appeared to be calmed and collected unlike the violent man a second ago, "Tell me who turned this beast into a statue, and your comrade told me about the rejuvenated masquerading spell, tell me all about it" The man coughed blood incessantly as he tried to breathe, forgetting to speak, he couldn't even breathe and he felt like all his organs were turning to mush. Zhao Li Xin let out exaggerated exhales, "Hurry up, don't let me lose my patience..."

The man wanted to shout, 'Is that what you called patience?!'

 Unfortunately, he could only scream in silence, forget about shouting at him he could barely breathe furthermore he could see that man really going to kill him if he didn't answer his question. "I...don't know much, the higher-ups only told us that this place was a sacred place that connected this place to God's realm so they built this...this shrine to protect it from public attention...and this beast...this was something left from that realm but without the God power they become a statue, that's a....uhm" the man looks reluctant to continue.

Zhao Li Xin interrupted "But your friend was able to awaken that beast from the statue form, how?"

"That..." The man's lips tremble, and he looks sideways as if trying to avoid the question.

"Continue!" Zhao Li Xin gives an intimidating look.

"But - But - But, if I say it I would...I would be killed!" the man pleaded desperately.

Zhao Li Xin looked at him as if he was stupid, "Oh, but if you don't speak, you will be burned right here - right now, just like the person who sent you the emergency call"

The man pressed his lips into a thin line while contemplating his options not long after he looked at Zhao Li Xin with trembling eyes, "The power of the lights….you can use the power of lights to awaken the statue..."

"Power of light? like a Lucient's family power?" Zhao Li Xin frowns.

"No, it doesn't need to be like them, just a trifle amount of light power is enough to resurrect them..." The man's voice turns dark, but suddenly he mums his words.

Zhao Li started to lose what little patience he had and a second later the Immortal flames suddenly flared up around him, "EXPLAIN!" Zhao Li Xin said with a commanding tone.

"The healer, we used the power of the healer a - a - and a lot of them, this whole place was generated by the power of the light!" "And the masquerading spell?" Zhao Li Xin squints his eyes.

"That - that also used the light power from the healer" the man's voice quivered.

"What about the gate, how do you activate the gate?" Zhao Li Xin probed further.

The man subconsciously turns to the conspicuous empty side of the wall, Zhao Li Xin just got confirmation of where the wall is.

The man's gaze fixated on the wall for a few seconds then he swallowed hard "It took a lot of light power, so much...it will take thousands of healers to open the gate alone but..." the man turned his eyes to Zhao Li Xin, "For a better future for us human, this small sacrifice is alright, don't you think? they should have forgiven us, right?....right?" Panic, fear, and guilt shot right through his eyes, Zhao Li Xin looked back at him and snorted "If you killed people just say you killed people, don't make an excuse, own it, take all the guilt, the regret, and whatever you felt to the grave with you, that the least you could do for those people" Zhao Li Xin left the man in his despair as he has lost his interest.

Is he waiting for comforting words from him? well, he asked the wrong person cause even he never gave himself a justification for killing all those people other than a reason that 'They get in the way'

All of a sudden, Zhao Li xin heard a faint buzzing sound approaching "What's that?"

[Master, The whole place is going to EXPLODE!] the fire spirit suddenly screams.

[Eh?]
