The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid

Chapter 29: Won’t she be mistaken for a vampire demon?

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Won’t she be mistaken for a vampire demon?

Ah Da ran back to her room and dived into the incense burner. Today, she had incidentally learned that Bronze Sword was acting in a movie, which indeed gave her quite a thrill. Having this information would make it much easier to find her; at least she wouldn’t aimlessly buzz around like a headless fly.

“Where do actors work?”

“May the gods bless me; I hope it’s not far from here.”

Ah Da lay on Xiao Yu’s Jade bed, hands joined in prayer.

Qin Yu returned to the bedroom to find it pitch-dark and saw no sign of Ah Da, walking straight to the front of the incense burner.

It was utterly silent, not a thing in sight.

...

“What are you hiding in there for?”

Ah Da covered her ears, pretending not to hear.

Qin Yuyun shouted angrily, “Speak.”

Seeing him pick up the incense burner, Ah Da panicked instantly. Was he planning to smash the incense burner to pieces?

That would be no different from killing her.

“Don’t smash it, I’m coming out.”

No sooner had she spoken than a head emerged from the incense burner, snow-white hands gripping the edge as she climbed to the rim, then leaped forward. During this, Ah Da dared not make eye contact with Qin Yu.

Looking at the little girl before him, Qin Yu’s dark eyes were a pool of stillness as he asked, “Why are you hanging your head? What are you afraid of?”

Ah Da shuddered sharply and suddenly met the man’s gaze. After a few seconds of eye contact, she quickly looked away, blinking her large eyes nervously, like a thief with a guilty conscience.

“I… I’m not…”

Ah Da’s hands trembled slightly, her fair, chubby fingers intertwined. She was terrible at lying, especially in front of Qin Yu—she always felt as if she had nowhere to hide from him.

His gaze was sharp as an arrow, piercingly examining her every inch, leaving nothing untouched.

Her small chin was lifted, the soft skin rubbed by the man’s fingertip, the pressure unquestionable.

Qin Yu’s cold phoenix eyes looked down.

“Lying.”

“I don’t like to hear lies.”

Although those were merely two indifferent sentences, Ah Da felt wronged. A sour tide of emotion surged in her heart and quickly submerged her; grief and grievance spread through her body, her vision soon blurred by a sheen of tears.

Glistening droplets trailed down her cheeks and dropped between his fingers. Qin Yu’s eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly scorched by the touch.

The little girl remained silent, leaning against his fingers with her head upturned, stubbornly meeting his gaze, her eyes reddening like a small, angry-yet-silent rabbit, pitiful indeed.

Tsk, Qin Yu clicked his tongue lightly.

His long fingers loosened their hold on her chin, then caressed her cheek, fingertips rolling over the flushed corners of her eyes, his fingers tickled by her damp, thick eyelashes.

“Why cry? Feeling wronged again?”

The man’s voice was deep, betraying little emotion.

Initially, Ah Da had deliberately shed tears to bluff her way through, but his words touched a nerve and the heaviness in her heart suddenly became unbearable.

Her tears fell like a floodgate had been opened, turning into pearls of varying sizes that pooled at their feet. Qin Yu was unaccustomed to seeing such crying—it was as if she harbored an ocean in her eyes.

Sighing lightly, Qin Yu scooped up the little girl, who barely reached his knees, and set her onto a nearby table, her side brushing against the Green Jade Incense Burner.

“!”

Startled by his abrupt action, Ah Da trembled in fear, rigidly freezing on the table, the sorrow she had been brewing scattered.

She even forgot to cry.

Qin Yu fetched a tissue, his palm steadying her face as he wiped away her tears with relative gentleness. The little girl’s lashes glistened with teardrops, her already large eyes looking even more like glistening, transparent gems washed clean by tears.

After drying her up, Qin Yu met the little girl’s bewildered gaze and asked, “Will you cry again?”

Ah Da bit her cherry lips, her gaze involuntarily drifting to the side, only to be forcefully pulled back by someone.

“I… am I not even allowed to cry… and you still scold me… there’s no one like you…”

Such capriciousness, uncertainty, domineering control, and occasionally even a penchant for bullying and intimidating her, treating her like a little pet to play with during his leisure time.

Qin Yu smiled, a hint of cruelty in the curve that rose at the corner of his mouth, “How am I?”

“You know exactly what you are!” Ah Da clenched her teeth, her fists at her sides tightened.

Qin Yu’s fingers scratched under her chin, his voice lazy as if teasing a kitten, “I don’t know.”

He doesn’t know? How could he not know?!

He’s doing it on purpose!

He’s even looking at her with a smile! @@novelbin@@

Ah Da felt so infuriated by his shamelessness that her head spun, and she grabbed his finger and bit down hard, for real this time.

Her mouth tasted a hint of sweetness, and for some reason, Ah Da, her nerves tingling, couldn’t help herself and licked up every drop of the blood that welled out, with her tongue.

Qin Yu’s dark eyes narrowed slightly but he did not stop her.

In the dimly lit room, the silvery white moonlight streamed in through the window, casting one tall and one short shadow close together near the redwood desk by the bookshelf.

“Mmm…”

Such a delicious scent.

Ah Da hugged his hand, gently sniffing it, with a look of intoxication in her eyes, like a cat that had sniffed catnip.

After a long while, Ah Da gently opened her eyes, and suddenly looking up, her gaze collided with the man’s, sending a shiver through her body as the numb fascination dissipated instantly, as if someone had splashed a bucket of cold water over her.

“I…”

Qin Yu asked, “Is it tasty?”

Ah Da was speechless, for she didn’t know why she had acted that way. She looked at the two teeth marks on Qin Yu’s palm, the skin split open, a ring of crystal-clear liquid surrounding it.

This is…

The bloody sweetness in her mouth kept reminding Ah Da of what she had just done. She had not only bitten Qin Yu but had also…

Qin Yu wouldn’t think of her as a blood-drinking, man-eating demon, right!

She’s not…

The young girl’s head drooped lower and lower, and Qin Yu picked up a tissue, wiping the wound methodically. It was not a large wound, and after she had licked it, it was healing at an astonishing rate.

The sound of the tissue’s movement was particularly clear in the quiet bedroom, and Ah Da couldn’t help but lift her head to sneak a peek. The man standing in front of her was tall, almost blending into the night, with a perfectly sculpted jawline, cold and aloof.

Ah Da stared at him blankly until he looked up and met her eyes, and only then did she come back to her senses, but it was already too late to flee.

“Are you still crying?” Qin Yu asked again, appearing to have not taken the recent incident to heart.

Ah Da, still in a daze, shook her head, feeling weak inside.

The young girl had lost all her spirit now, her earlier defiance gone without a trace, behaving extremely docilely.

Qin Yu said, “If you’re not crying, then come down, take a bath and go to sleep.”

Embarrassed, Ah Da blushed and jumped down from the desk, landing steadily on the floor. Her mind was a complete mess, not knowing what to say or daring to say anything, she just wanted to escape.

After only a couple of steps, she was pulled back, sending a shock through her heart as it skipped several beats.

Qin Yu noted the bloodstain on her lips and gently touched it with his finger, reminding her, “Make sure to wash this off.”

Ah Da nodded hurriedly and dashed into the bathroom, escaping as if her life depended on it. Moments later, she ran back out and rushed towards the clothes rack, only to find it empty; the morning’s clothes rack was nowhere to be seen.

Ah Da turned around, just about to say she had no clothes, when she saw Qin Yu entering the room with Uncle Wen, followed by a maid.
