Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Duke’s Heir VS The Underdog Female Supporting Character (Part 9)
Gu Shengyin silently lit a candle for her father: A duke as handsome and charming as he was, yet compared by people to the Supervising Elder.
She sternly looked at Lilith, “Don’t speak of Father like that, he is very kind to people.”
Lilith silently envisioned Veronica and the Duke together — two expressionless faces staring at each other, communicating solely through their eyes. The mere thought made her feel a bit cold.
Seeing her good friend beginning to adopt the Duke of White Rose’s signature expressionless face, Lilith felt a heavy responsibility on her shoulders. She wanted to change her friend’s personality — an intention that coincidentally aligned with the Duchess.
The carriage stopped at a spot, and Lilith and Gu Shengyin alighted. They saw two young men on horses waiting by the roadside.
One was Lilith’s brother, Kyle Bill, and the other was his friend.
“Brother Kyle! Joy!” Lilith ran over and greeted the two.
“This is my good friend from the Roman Family, Veronica Roman.”
Both showed a look of amazement upon seeing Gu Shengyin; they had heard of the beauty of the Pearl of the Empire but were seeing Gu Shengyin in person for the first time.
“Good day, Your Highness Roman,” both men greeted Gu Shengyin with a bow.
Gu Shengyin nodded and spoke, “We’re all friends here, no need for such formalities when we’re out having fun.”
Sunshine cast upon Gu Shengyin’s face, making the young girl’s god-blessed features even more dazzling.
Throughout the journey, Joy and Bill were particularly attentive to Gu Shengyin.
At their teenage years, the most straightforward recognition the boys had for a girl was her appearance.
“We’ve arrived!” None of them wore clothing emblazoned with their family crests, and Gu Shengyin even wore a cloak — the distinctive green eyes of the Roman family were too unique not to be concealed.
Bill handed the invitation to the Gatekeeper and successfully entered the Beast Fighting Arena.
Everything here seemed at odds with the Royal Capital.
Lilith and the others were amazed; the Royal Capital they saw every day was rich, bustling, and glamorous. But here, the surroundings gave off a gloomy and damp feeling, with everyone passing by wearing grim expressions.
Yet, all of this only added to their excitement, like embarking on a thrilling adventure in a strange place.
However, Gu Shengyin had an ominous premonition. Her instincts were always spot-on; she had felt this way when Cheng Yiru was taking revenge on the Cheng family in the last world.
Soon, this premonition proved correct. @@novelbin@@
The system suddenly announced, “Underground beast-fighting arena detection of character Eve Heather.”
Gu Shengyin was startled, “Isn’t she supposed to come to the Royal Capital in two years?”
System: “It’s possible that the host’s arrival has altered the storyline.”
Gu Shengyin suddenly recalled the original cause of Veronica’s death and blurted out, “Can I still leave now?” At this moment, she definitely did not want to confront the millennia-old Demon King.
Lilith and the others didn’t understand why Gu Shengyin suddenly wanted to leave, but seeing her insistence, they could only go along with her.
However, the Gatekeeper at the Beast Fighting Arena regretfully informed them that no one was allowed to leave until the combat event was over.
Gu Shengyin felt a chill inside her; confrontation was not an option. The only thing to do now was to secretly pray that the Demon King wouldn’t notice her presence.
What do you think?
