Chapter 11: good people exist
Ana slowly sat up in bed, rubbing her temples to try and alleviate the pounding headache. She looked around, trying to remember how she got home, but her memories of the previous night were hazy.
She reached for her phone and saw that it was already 10:45. She had two missed calls from an unknown number. Ana's mind was foggy, but she vaguely remembered Ethan telling her that he had someone escort Lily home.
Ana threw off the covers and got out of bed, still wearing the dress from the previous night. She stumbled to the bathroom to splash some water on her face, hoping to clear her head.
As she looked at herself in the mirror, Ana couldn't help but think about the events of the previous night. She remembered Sophia's case quite fine , but she couldn't remember anything that happened after she got into Ethan's car , she didn't know of she had fallen asleep or something, she tried to think but her thought was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing , she quickly grabbed it hoping it was Lily, but when she saw Mr Maverick on the caller Id , three thin lines appeared on her forehead.
Ana's eyes narrowed slightly as she hesitated for a moment before answering the call. She wasn't sure why Ethan was calling her, and she wasn't exactly in the best state to talk to him. But something about his name on the caller ID made her feel a sense of trepidation, so she took a deep breath and answered.
"Hello?" she said, trying to sound more alert than she felt.

"Good morning, Ana," Ethan's deep voice came through the line, sending a shiver down her spine. "I hope you're feeling okay. You were a bit out of it last night."
Ana's eyes widened slightly as she tried to remember what had happened after she got into Ethan's car. Had she said something embarrassing? Done something stupid?
"I think I'm fine," she said, trying to play it cool. "Just a bit of a headache. What happened last night?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Ana's heart began to beat a little faster. What had she done?
"You don't remember?" Ethan asked, his voice low and smooth.
Ana shook her head, even though she knew he couldn't see her. "No I don't remember much after we left the party."
Ethan chuckled, a low, husky sound that sent a shiver down Ana's spine. "Well, let's just say you were a bit enthusiastic. But don't worry, I took care of you. You're safe and sound in your own bed."
Ana's face grew hot as she realized that Ethan must have brought her home and put her to bed. She didn't know whether to be grateful or mortified.
"Thank you," she muttered, trying to sound dignified despite her embarrassment.
"The more you thank me , the more I feel I dod something great , I'm your husband after all it's only normal , I lookout for you, I'll send someone to help you pack up later."
Ana's eyes widened in surprise as she processed Ethan's words. Packing up? What was he talking about?
"Wait, what do you mean?" Ana asked, her mind racing. "Packing up what?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Ana could almost hear Ethan's smile. "You're moving in with me, Ana. Remember? We discussed it over at dinner two days ago."
Ana's face went blank as she struggled to recall the conversation. Moving in with Ethan? She had completely forgotten.
"Oh, right," Ana said, trying to play it cool. "I remember now."
Ethan chuckled. "I'm glad you do. I'll send someone over to help you pack up your things. We can discuss the details later."
Ana nodded with a hum and then hung up the call, she had already forgotten about the discussion of them moving in,she pinched the edge of her nose with a sigh."Anastasia, you are really something."
Just as Ana was about to try and piece together the events of the previous night, her phone rang again. This time, she saw Lily's name on the caller ID, and a wave of relief washed over her.
"Hey, Lily" Ana answered, trying to sound more alert than she felt.
"Ana, oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Lily's voice came through the line, sounding frantic. "I don't know what happened last night, but I woke up in some hotel room with no memory of how I got there. And I have this weird feeling that something happened, but I don't know what."
Ana raised an eyebrow skeptically, wait something didn't add up ?"hol on Lily, did you check your self was there any form...
Lily sighed. "I already did that, I'm perfectly fine I'm even still on my party dress ,it must have been a good Samaritan."
"Lily how can you be stupid, with your identity it would be hard for people to help you for no reason, who so ever it's must want something from you, you should be more careful."
Lily's voice was defensive on the other end of the line. "Hey, I'm not stupid, Ana. I know how to take care of myself. And maybe, just maybe, there are still some good people in this world who don't want anything in return for helping someone."
Ana sighed, feeling a pang of guilt for snapping at Lily. "I'm sorry, Lil. I'm just worried about you. And I'm worried that something might have happened to you last night."
Lily's tone softened. "I know, Ana. And I appreciate your concern. But honestly, I'm fine. A bit shaken up, but fine, I'll call you later I need to call my manager so he doesn't get worried about me.".
Ana nodded even though Lily couldn't see her." Alright then. "
What do you think?
