CH.586 Down the Pack Opener Rabbit Hole
CH.586 Down the Pack Opener Rabbit Hole
Coming from the Winds of Gusto, I was playing around with my Gusto monsters today.
Specifically Gusto Egul, Gusto Codor and Gusto Thunbolt. Not that they aren’t three of the four Gusto monsters I currently have. The only one on top of them is Caam, Serenity of Gusto.
As to why I want to play with them, well all three of them have an effect to summon a monster from the deck. And those effects are the most broken effects, as they just make new cards that I can return to my Collection and then sleeve.
I started with Egul, as he can only get Gusto monsters. So that should be reasonable. But then again, they are Gusto monsters, so they’ll just search each other.
The five monsters I got with Egul were Pilica, Descendant of Gusto, which does nothing special for this operation. Musto, Oracle of Gusto, which is the same. Kamui, Hope of Gusto, who can get me any Gusto Tuner monster. Winda, Priestess of Gusto, who again can get me any Gusto Tuner monster. And Gusto Griffin, who can just get me any Gusto monster.
So naturally, I next got all the Gusto Tuners with Winda and Kamui.
Gusto Gulldo; Gusto Vedir; Gusto Squirro and Gusto Falco.
Squirro and Falco are worth a note. Squirro can summon any level 5 or higher Gusto monster and Falco can summon any Gusto monster. But since I should have all of the level 4 or lower Gusto monsters now, I think I’ll just use Squirro to get the higher level ones.
And there were two of them. Reeze, Whirlwind of Gusto and Windaar, Sage of Gusto.
Neither of them can get me new cards, so I’ll return to two of the first three that I started with.
Codor and Thunbolt. See, these two have something similar. They both can special summon a Wind Psychic-Type monster with 1500 or less defense. Yeah. That includes monsters that aren’t Gusto monsters. And honestly speaking, I have no idea what cards that includes, so let’s try and see what I can get.
And let me just start the list.
Hu-Li the Jewel Mikanko is a beauty, and seems to be part of the Mikanko archetype. I don’t have a single Mikanko yet, well I have Hu-Li now, but the next reward for the Ritual challenge is a Mikanko Ritual monster. So it is good to have a main deck Mikanko as well. And she doesn’t seem too bad.
Next up, Ghost Fairy Elfobia. She is fine, but nothing crazy.
Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu. She might be a huge help in my Internet project, if she can enter my prototype Internet and help me work it from the inside.
Risebell the Star Adjuster just alters levels temporarily. And Risebell the Summoner is just a Normal Pendulum with a level adjusting Pendulum effect.
Libromancer Geek Boy is … something. He seems fine, but I need to see more Libromancers to really tell.
Ritual Beast Tamer Elder just gives an extra normal summon.
Ritual Beast Tamer Zefrawendi is just a monster. Sure she has a search effect, but stuff that adds things to my hand can only add stuff that I already have access to through sets, decks and other stuff I’ve unlocked. It can’t get me new stuff like summoning or setting from the deck can.
Ritual Beast Tamer Wen summons banished Ritual Beast monsters. But I’d have to banish one first. But she is also cute, so she gets a pass.
Genomix Fighter is just a mid Tuner monster.
Hypnosister is cute, but sadly she relies on other people having Pendulum monsters in their Pendulum zones. So I probably won’t use her, but someone will surely want a copy.
Risebell the Star Psycher is another monster that can temporarily alter monster levels.
Ritual Beast Tamer Zeframpilica doesn’t do anything special.
Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan is pretty similar to the other Virtual World monster I got. Again hoping they can help with the Internet.
Nightmell the Dark Bonder is potentially broken. She can summon new monsters that I don’t have yet, and has likely the widest range ever. She can summon anything, as long as I can tribute a monster with the same original Type, Attribute, Level, Attack and Defense.
And last, we have another broken monster. Reeshaddoll Wendi. She can special summon any and all Shaddoll monsters. From the deck. Aka. making new cards. So … time for the next bunch of stuff.
So … let’s start the second list.
Shaddoll Falco, a good monster, but doesn’t make new cards.
Shaddoll Beast. Draw power/Pack token generator. Useful.
Shaddoll Dragon. Bouncing and Spell/Trap destruction. Also useful.
Shaddoll Squamata. Monster destruction and Foolish Burial. Still doesn’t make me new stuff.
Shaddoll Hound. GY recovery and battle position changing. Not that great for my use. I have better cards for both of those.
Shaddoll Hedgehog. Amazing in the TCG, but for me, it can’t make new cards.
Shaddoll Zefranaga. Just nothing special.
Shaddoll Zefracore is the same.
Qadshaddoll Keios can give a decent temporary attack boost.
Helshaddoll Hollow is just monster destruction.
Naelshaddoll Ariel summons banished Shaddoll stuff.
And Nehshaddoll Genius can make Shaddoll monsters unaffected by other stuff for the turn.
Sadly I can’t get the Shaddoll extra deck monsters with anything. Unless Helshaddoll Hollow somehow makes new ones that he places in the GY. Because I do have plenty of Shaddoll GY recovery.
Sadly, after testing, it didn’t work. Helshaddoll Hollow’s effect didn’t work, since I didn’t have appropriate Shaddoll monsters that I could send to the GY.
Nightmell the Dark Bonder was a different beast. I began playing with her effect a little, but there are so many options.
I did manage to get a few new cards. Like Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy by tributing Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon. And Odd-Eyes Lancer Dragon by tributing Thunder End Dragon.
Also, by tributing Blue-Eyes White Dragons, I managed to get Galaxy-Eyes Afterglow Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Primal and Heart of the Blue-Eyes.
Next, Felgrand Dragon got me his retrain, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand.
I didn’t find any more new level 8 Light Dragons, so I tried some level 10 Light Dragons instead, and managed to find two. Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon could be ‘traded’ for Stardust Chronicle Spark Dragon and All-Eyes Phantom Dragon.
I then decided to go with one more level. That being level 12. Light Dragons, naturally.
Sadly neither Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon nor Dragon Master Knight traded to anything new. Dragon Master Knight couldn’t trade into anything at all, and Ultimate Dragon just summoned one of the retrains.
But Shooting Quasar Dragon could be traded in. After a few times of it just summoning other Quasar variants, I got Odd-Eyes Arcray Dragon. More Odd-Eyes stuff. It isn’t quite Supreme King Z-ARC, but some retrain or alternative version of it. A really cool monster to have.
Crimson Dragon also traded in for Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon. Which isn’t as cool as Arcray Dragon, but whatever.
I think that will do it for today. I got plenty of cool new monsters. Still a shame I couldn’t get the Shaddoll extra deck monsters or Shaddoll fusion, but I’ll get them eventually.
But just so you all know, these are the kinds of rabbit holes Pack Opener can lead me down when I let it.
What do you think?
